Any person who was old enough during Sept 11th to keep in mind knows how hard that day was for The United States. History books show how hard that day was for everyone in The United States, instead of just those who had family or friends die. A remark by President Obama makes it seem like September 11th wasn’t as difficult as it really was. Liz Cheney was really angry that President Obama said this.
What exactly was Obama’s comment?
President Obama put into words his feelings on terrorist attacks, including the September 11th attack. Bob Woodward
showed in his new book, “Obama Wars,” President Obama stating:
We can absorb a terrorist attack. We’ll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, the biggest attack ever… we absorbed it and we are stronger.”
This statement made Dick Cheney’s daughter really mad. His daughter is Liz Cheney.
The announcement Cheney made in reaction
Liz Cheney was mad at Obama. This was because of the terror attack statement he made. The way she viewed it, Obama said clearly that he did not plan on using all of his power and resources to protect America. She called for an explanation from Obama about this.
CBS News reports her saying:
Americans expect our President to…use everyeach tool at his disposal to find, defeat, capture and kill terrorists. We expect him to…make it clear to our adversaries that an attack on the United States will carry devastating consequences. Instead, President Obama is reported to have said, ‘We can absorb a terrorist attack.’ This comment suggests an alarming fatalism on the part of President Obama… The President owes the American people an explanation.
An explanation is needed by more individuals
Other individuals are worried about the Obama terror attack comment and hope to have an explanation too. The question on Bilal’s mind of 12 News is why the president would ever say something like that at all. He was another one concerned about what exactly was said. He wanted to know why the president would not be doing everything he can to protect America. There are also individuals just wondering why Obama would make that comment. It seems like he is trying for making The United States the center of a terrorist attack. Mitch Marconi thinks that many are overreacting with Cheney as they like to criticize the Obama administration. It does not really matter if they’re overreacting or not. Everybody nevertheless expects Obama to explain.
